For four servings:

• 4 large or 8 smaller bratwurst
• 1/2 cup heavy cream
• 4 medium potatoes, boiled with peel and cooled
• 2 tbsp oil
• salt, pepper
• herb mustard (ready-made or home-made with freshly chopped herbs of your choice, e.g. tarragon, parsley, chives, chervil,...)

Bratwurst with grilled potato slices

Zubereitung:

1. Marinate the bratwurst in the heavy cream for half an hour, turning them around every now and then. (This is not required, but makes them nice and crunchy.)

2. Cut the potatoes in thin slices and baste them with oil.

3. Take the bratwurst out of the cream, pat them dry, and cook them on the preheated grill for about 5 minutes (depending on thickness) on each side while turning them frequently. After about 5 minutes, move the charcoal to the side and finish grilling the bratwurst on the cooler part of the grill, away from the flames. Cook the potato slices over the fire, about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they have a nice brown color, then season with salt and pepper.

4. Serve with the herb mustard.
