The Thrill of the Little Plate

Sized to easily hold a few hearty bites, these little gems bring the wow factor to any party. Somewhere in between a salad plate and a tea cup saucer is the multi-functional “little plate”. Officially referred to as a “bread and butter plate”, this piece often gets overlooked as a lifestyle must have.

For starters, it’s the quintessential cocktail plate. The average bread and butter plate is 6.5” in diameter, which makes them a great “go to plate” throughout the day. Perfect for quick snacks and healthy grazing…a “little plate” helps to keep the portions in check.

And of course, there is the obvious use of bread and butter at each place setting, desserts (cause the salad plates are dirty from the salad course) and so much more! I use them all the time when serving a compote or fruit salad in a stemmed glass. Simply place underneath…and they are as functional as they are fabulous!

Here’s a collage of some of our favorites. Feel free to match your pattern, or break all the rules and go for something different.
