Acryl and Quaryl® – easy-care surfaces.

A bathtub full of smart ideas

The shower trays from Villeroy & Boch are made from sanitary ceramic or high-quality plastics such as acrylic or Quaryl® – the baths are available in acrylic or Quaryl®. Quaryl® is a mixture of finest quartz sand and acrylic. This innovative and exclusive Villeroy & Boch material combines the properties of acrylic and quartz. In addition to their design and convenience, Quaryl® products are known for their durability, precision installation and low maintenance.

Both acrylic and Quaryl® are easy to clean because of their pore-free, seamless surfaces. To maintain their luster, regular cleaning with a sponge and a liquid cleaner that is suitable for synthetic materials such as acrylic is all you need.

Limescale deposits may easily be removed with vinegar-based cleaners or special limescale removers. To remove oil-restoring substances, all you need is an alkaline cleaning agent such as simple dish soap.

Both surfaces are insensitive to all common household chemicals.

Special tip:

Small damage spots on colored synthetic materials such as acrylic or Quaryl®, e.g. scratches or scorch marks, are easily removed.

To treat minor damage on acrylic surfaces, use a maintenance kit made for acrylic materials, available at specialized retailers. Alternatively, you may use fine-grit sandpaper (no. 1000 or 1200) or steel wool to repair minor surface damage. Sand carefully (surface appearance may be altered!) in a longitudinal direction until the surface color looks even again. Use the same procedure for lustrous finishes. For deeper holes or furrows that require material to be refilled, the acrylic repair set (article no. UCREP0037 for the color white) is required. After that, restore shine with a special polishing agent, metal cleaner or car polish. If you have questions, please contact your local bathroom retailer or sanitation professional.

Whirlpool Systems

Villeroy & Boch whirlpools meet the highest safety and hygiene standards. In order to guarantee maximum hygiene, some models have special jets or a fully automated self-cleaning system. This system is activated automatically once all bath water has drained. After that, air is blown through the internal pipes to dry them. The drying system can also be turned on manually, for example if water has gotten inside the pipes during cleaning.

All whirlpools using water are equipped with a special hair catcher to guarantee proper function and safety. The hair catcher ensures that the water flow stops if the drain is clogged.

Proper cleaning

We recommend monthly cleaning with a good whirlpool cleaner. Mild, regular household bathroom cleaners can safely be used. Please do not use scouring agents or abrasive sponges/cloths. Stubborn stains can be removed with a sponge and a liquid, non-abrasive cleaner that has been properly diluted with water. Limescale deposits are best removed with a suitable limescale remover. Prior to first use, test any cleaning agent in an inconspicuous spot to ensure it does not damage the tub or its components. All visible whirlpool components, such as water and air jets, can be removed prior to cleaning (see user manual for detailed instructions).

Good to know

When water evaporates, mineral deposits are left behind as stains, e.g. in areas with very hard water or on exposed surfaces inside toilets. The formation of mineral deposits is promoted by the use of alkaline cleaning products (cleaners containing soap). With an acidic cleaning agent such as concentrated vinegar, however, these deposits are easily removed without straining your muscles, your budget, or the environment.

Soap, cosmetics, shampoos and other soapy products contain oil-restoring substances that are best dissolved with an alkaline cleaner (e.g. common household dish soap).

Loss of shine or increased dullness are signs that mineral deposits have formed. In this case, a thorough cleaning with a vinegar-based product or a special hard water stain remover can restore shine.

To clean toilet seats made out of colored Duroplast, all you need is a damp cloth. If needed, you may also use a mild, non-abrasive household cleaner that is suitable for synthetic materials.
