A place of attractive opposites. A radiant city made up of 15 interlinked islands – immaculate white beaches and modern city chic, the Arabian Sean and a western way of life: this is Durrat Al Bahrain, the artificial island paradise in front of Bahrain’s southern coast. What sounds more fantastic than a story from the Arabian Nights actually couldn’t look more real or more modern. Sandy beaches and the crystal-blue sea form the perfect backdrop for the minimalist city architecture developed in the world-famous Atkins Designstudio. This architecture also shapes the coastlines of the islands: they are lined with a total of 2000 villas – arranged like a string of shiny white pearls in straight lines and furnished with understated minimalism.
