First-class quality is timeless. Genoa, world-famous port: when liner shipping became established at the end of the 19th century, travelling by ship was en vogue – and Genoa became the European gateway to the world. The upper classes in particular set off from Genoa on long journeys to distant destinations and, from 1897 when the Grand Hotel Savoia opened its doors, were welcomed here by the Fiorini family. When the hotel was completely renovated in 2007, the challenge was to combine contemporary comfort with first-class tradition and historical style. And the amazing result is a 5-star hotel that exudes both a new splendour and original historical grandezza – and still meets all cosmopolitan requirements.
