Villeroy & Boch at the Cersaie 2009 - The 2010 collection

Space and harmony, style and emotion –

La Diva

The 2010 collection of new tiles for contemporary but enduring spatial concepts

Iridescent micro-structures, glamorous colours, deep luminosity, strikingly soft surfaces and handcrafted designs – at Cersaie 2009, Villeroy & Boch will be presenting a new collection of tiling that will encompass a compendium of pioneering design-based, technical, social and cultural concepts. Laid out with the unmistakable signature of the company, the new tiles for 2010 will combine the well-known and tried-and-true from a variety of cultures and periods around the globe, elements from both art and architecture, with the new and never-before-seen, spatial concepts that have been attuned to contemporary tastes for a variety of stylish living ambiences – and in a quality at a remarkably high standard that offers enduring aesthetics and functionality.

The wall and floor concept of La Diva, for instance, creates a design of long-lasting beauty that, inspired by the multi-cultural influences of Asian and European craftsman traditions, allows for new interpretations on space design. The premium quality offered by this collection is further underscored by its elegant colours of tulipe noire, a dark, strongly expressive blackberry, pearl, a soft cream and gold accents in a used look. La Diva's exquisite mosaics, complete with gold, are taking mosaic art, a centuries-old tradition at the house of Villeroy & Boch, to a new renaissance. The subtly decorated floor crafted from porcelain stoneware tiles and inspired by the mosaics from cultures past round out the entire concept. La Diva thus conveys a feeling for space that is at once distinguished, fashionable and by the same token tasteful in an ultimately refined manner.

The wall concept Chérie, on the other hand, sheds a modern spotlight on nostalgic charm. The ceramic wall covering, a thrilling addition not just to any bathroom but also throughout the entire house, has been manufactured using a high-tech process that creates a soft structure for it full of matt and shimmering particles that play in the light. The iridescent slimmer alters the colours of the harmonised designs depending on the viewpoint. Both refined and cultivated, Chérie gives spaces a decorative charm that expresses an elegant way of life.

Nostalgic and romantic style elements were also placed in a contemporary context for the wall and floor concept Ivoire. The result is a spatial concept composed of floor tiling and, for walls, décor tiles with a slight relief in cream and beige and a motif of creeping vines in a reserved tone-on-tone effect. Used across an entire surface, Ivoire gives a room a harmonious ambience, reserved and emphasising the most valuable details throughout it.

By way of contrast, the design for the wall concept behind Twilight, with its micro-relief structures, offers new, never-before-seen optical and tactile impressions. Shifting, luminous colours and a soft relief with the finest of structures create a game between light and shadow that generates a unique, almost mystifying effect in a space. Designers may evoke a glamorous, classic or even a purist-high-tech ambience, all depending on the stylistic aim for the space.
