Nostalgic charm against a modern backdrop – this is the look behind the robust trend towards the heritage style in both fashion and furnishings: featuring little treasures that make life at home more personal, exquisite antiques, lovingly tended heirlooms and costly souvenirs, all claiming their place alongside modern high-tech appliances. The new wall concept Chérie from Villeroy & Boch moves amidst this tension: traditional heritage elements and classic, French styling fused into a contemporary designer context through the use of modern, technical formats and effects. The result is both refined and cultivated, Chérie giving spaces a decorative charm that expresses an elegant way of life in a deliberately subtle manner. The high technical quality of the tiles' manufacture gives them a soft structure that uses alternately matt and shimmering particles to play with light. The iridescent slimmer makes colours change depending on the viewpoint.
The 30 x 60 cm large nonvitreous ceramic base tile is available in soft shades of ecru, beige and bright grey. Two décor tiles were developed to complement the base tile, each able to be mixed and matched with the other, both also in ecru and an updated blue-green celadon: iridescent colours and patterns with arabesque or striped patterning that are also suitable for large walls in bath and living rooms to lend spaces an airy, unpretentious ambience. The large matching glass trim has an exquisitely surprising look to it: The inner patterning is reminiscent of cut glass, giving the trim a synthetic relief effect even though the surface itself is actually smooth. The wall trim is flat on top to form a ledge. Because all sizes are rectified, it is possible to install them in a highly pleasing aesthetic fashion with very narrow joints.
The range of possible uses is enormous: Thanks to the selection of colours and decors, Chérie offers solutions for virtually any space layout. Ideal areas for using it are in the bathroom, living room, corridors and on staircases.
