"Bloom" – subtle floral pattern in "black & white" trend theme

Patterns are back – after a time in which table and buffet arrangements were characterised almost exclusively by pure white tableware, there is again a growing demand for patterns which introduce a subtle yet clear accentuation into the overall presentation. The pattern should never, however, force its way into the forefront and squeeze out the effect created by the food itself. A modern pattern for the catering and hotel sector must open up new presentation alternatives for the chef and underline the gastronomic statement made by the culinary creations.

With this in mind, designer Françoise Jeanmoye created the pattern "Bloom" for Villeroy & Boch. It is a golden bloom, stylised in delicate sweeping pencil strokes, which blends harmoniously into the tableware form as an individual pattern. To provide the catering industry with a particularly stylish tableware service this floral motive has been combined with the persistently strong trend theme, black & white. What has resulted is two pattern lines: "Bloom Sun" in white and "Bloom Shadow" with black tableware items. "Bloom Sun" and "Bloom Shadow" are designed on plates and dishes from the "Food & Mood" series "Dune" and "Cera". The matching cups can be added from the white version of "Dune".

Flowing sand dunes advancing in rolling waves provided the inspiration for "Dune". It lends the tableware highly expressive and harmonious stylistic elements. The design of "Cera" is just as sensational as it is functional and links organic contours with the clear geometry of squares and rectangles.

In the black pattern "Bloom Shadow" there is a choice of five different sizes of round "Dune" plate and three angular "Cera" plates. The same "Dune" and "Cera" plates are available in the "Bloom Sun" variation as in "Bloom Shadow", but they are supplemented by two oval "Dune" plates and four different "Dune" dishes as well as three dishes and a pasta plate based on the "Cera" form.

When the two designs are combined and used in conjunction with the patterns "Bloom Sun" and "Bloom Shadow", a powerful, exciting contrast results in which innovative foods can be impressively presented.
