Villeroy & Boch has developed a range of glass articles to match several of its successful tableware collections, once again demonstrating its absolute competence in the field of glass for table-settings. Accessories to complement the successful series NewWave, Urban Nature, Modern Grace and Farmhouse Touch have been created, making contemporary and extremely attractive combinations of glass and porcelain possible. Touches of lightness and transparency are thus introduced to table-settings, enhancing all occasions.
The successful design of the bestseller NewWave was further developed last year with fresh and dynamic new ideas. Completely novel items have been created, all of which can be perfectly combined with the existing well-loved NewWave articles. Anyone interested in playing with different combinations of materials to create more imaginative table-settings will be delighted by the NewWave glass accessories. Bowls, dishes and small bowls made of clear glass coordinate harmoniously with NewWave porcelain articles, their matching sizes facilitating arrangements. A new glass vase and an unusual ornamental bowl successfully take the design one step further, and provide eye-catching finishing touches for any table.
As the name suggests, the theme of naturalness is at the heart of the Urban Nature collection, which uses a contemporary interpretation of country life to create a natural urban look. The design of the new Urban Nature glass accessories combines modern minimalist design language with textured surfaces, unusual both to look at and to touch. The expressive plates, platters and bowls are produced from clear glass in a soft caramel-brown tone with a surface that is reminiscent of grained wood or bark. These remarkable items come particularly into their own in juxtaposition with the pure white dinnerware of the Urban Nature collection, creating table-settings with a very individual and unusual flair.
Elegance and timelessness with just a touch of retro attitude are put into a new product context for the exceptionally fine Modern Grace, creating a tableware collection that combines filigree chic with urban purism. Extremely thin premium bone porcelain gives the dinnerware an unusually fine sheen and a floating lightness. The design language of the series plays with geometric shapes: squares, rectangles, ellipses, circles and cylinders. With their balanced proportions, the high-quality porcelain items open up novel possibilities for presenting and serving food. The constantly new and unusual combinations of forms can now be further enlivened through the addition of glass accessories, creating an innovative combination of materials. The clear glass plates, platters and long dishes add depth to the delicate appeal of the dinnerware, strengthening the harmony and timeless aesthetic of the table. The matching hurricane lamp of solid glass opens up the possibility of introducing lighting effects into presentations. All glass items have been designed in the same shapes as the porcelain pieces, but have been given new sizes to fit in between the existing range. This allows the articles to be perfectly combined with one another – glass on porcelain or porcelain on glass, just as the mood dictates.
Villeroy & Boch developed a contemporary country concept for the tableware collection Farmhouse Touch, giving simple everyday products new forms that combine authentic values with modern style. The distinguishing design characteristic of the collection is that all Farmhouse Touch products look and feel handmade. The new glass accessories now being introduced also appear handcrafted with a solid aesthetic that perfectly complements the powerful appeal of the white porcelain. The new little glass bowls can thus be arranged with the ceramic plates on the large glass platter, which is perfect not only for cakes, cheese or sandwiches, but also as a charger plate. Equally telling highlights are given to Farmhouse Touch table-settings with the footed ice cream bowl, the table lantern, the hurricane lamp, the carafe, and the rounded vase made of clear glass. A large dish for salads or fruit completes the range of new glass accessories.
With its harmonious and fashionable colour range of rich, warm and cool, fresh tones, Colour Concept caters for versatile individuality, providing something for every taste, occasion and time of year. The colours Clear, Midnight Blue, Olive, Amber, Turquoise and Burgundy have now been joined by gleaming powerful Red that gives an eye-catching quality to the Colour Concept tumblers and bowls. The product range of Colour Concept has been further extended in all colours by the addition of a shallow platter, new little bowls, a tall longdrink tumbler and a shorter tumbler, both with a thick solid glass base. The real coloured glass is handmade using a traditional interior overlay technique that produces particularly strong intensive colours. Colour Concept can thus be combined with many of the Villeroy & Boch dinnerware collections to create atmospheric and seasonably colourful table-settings.
